The Tug is a unique tug of war acoss the Mississippi River. Ten team of 20 men and one beefy team of 25 wonderful women pull with all of their might against the men and women on the Iowa side of the Mighty Miss.

Please join us the Saturday of Tug Fest, festivities start at noon on Saturday.
 
 
Tug Run Header
Saturday 5K 7:30am Fun Run 7:45am
 
Are you faster than the mighty Mississippi?  Come find out at the annual Port Byron Tug Fest 5K and Kids Fun Run.  5K starts at 7:30 a.m., running South along the river.  Just after the 5K runners take off, the kids will take off on a short out-and-back run.  Then stick around for a post-race celebration and awards with beer and refreshments for runners at the Main Street pavilion. 

Registration:
5K – Before July 31, $20. After July 31 and race day, $22.
Kids – Before July 31, $10. After July 31 and race day, $10.

The Port Byron Great River Tug Fest welcomes you to celebrate with us in launching our second annual Kids' Bike Parade! We will be decorating according to this year's Tug charity: FORC (Friends of Off Road Cycling)! This organization is facilitating the development of new trails at Dorrance Park. Decorate your bike according to the park & nature theme and pedal our way!

The parade will begin at 6:15 on August 11, 2016. Participants will line up at Lynn Street at 6:00 for judging, which will be completed by 6:15. The parade will run along Main St. and will end at Hickory Street. For more information on FORC, visit their website: www.qcforc.org.

We would like to welcome you to the 2016 Tug Fest Queen Pageant and Prince/Princess Pageant.  If you have attended the Great River Tug Fest in the past, or have talked to some of the previous contestants and parents, then you already know what a wonderful experience it is to be a part of this event. Our number one goal is “FUN”. For anyone who is interested in participating,

The Queen pageant is Thurdsay night at 6pm. The Prince & Princess Pageant is Saturday at 10am.

Once again joining us is the Monster Arm Wrestling Tournament. This event is for all, those who just got off the rope and those who didn't get to pull. Weigh-ins start at 4pm at Peacock's Gazebo

Join us for our Lighted Boat Parade at the Great River Port Byron Tug Fest! Celebrate with us as we light up the Mississippi River with beautifully decorated boats. Judging will be held at the Public Boat Ramp, at the end of Cherry Street at 7:30 PM and the parade will begin at 8:00 PM. Awards will be announced at Duey's Corner Tap one hour after the Lighted Boat Parade is completed. 

We are thrilled to have this opportunity, and are looking forward to sharing this exciting event with you! Please note, however, that in order for this event to be appealing and reach its fullest potential there will be a minimum requirement of 5 participating boats for the parade to occurr. We appreciate your understanding.

The Kids Tug is where we start the training of our "future tuggers". This year we are moving the location of the Kids Tug, join us at the Tug Site area.

Enjoy the free kids games at the library a 10am.
